Tributes paid to Adivasi leader Sidam Shambhu
Adilabad: Adivasi leader Sidam Shambhu was the voice of the tribals, Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrier said. The SP, who attended the condolence meeting at Mathadiguda village under Utnoor mandal on Wednesday, said that Shambu has always been in the forefront of any agitation aimed at the development of the tribal communities.
It may be mentioned here that Shambhu died while undergoing treatment in Hyderabad recently. He was one of the founders of Adivasi Hakkula Porata Samithi, also known as Thudum Debba.
“Shambhu’s endeavour for achieving Adivasi rights will never be forgotten,” the SP said, hailing the departed leader of carrying his fight in a peaceful manner.
Warrier, who gave away Rs 10,000 to the kin of Shambu, said that police department is ready to extend its support to the leader’s family. He appealed to Adivasi youths to make use of the coaching programmes offered by the police department.
Former minister Ch Ramchandra Reddy, former MLA S Bapu Rao, tribal leaders Athram Sakku, Vedma Bojju and Utnoor DSP N Venkatesh were among others present.
