Chinna Jeeyar Swamy to begin Chaturmasa Vratham

Hyderabad: Sri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy will be observing the four-month-long Chaturmasa Vratham at Divyasaketam (ashram), Sriramnagaram near Muchintal of Shamshabad.

Chatur Mas, a period consisting of four months, begins from the Deva Shayana Ekadasi in the month of Ashada and ends on Utthana Ekadasi in Kartika Month. The four months of the Hindu calendar Shravan, Bhadrapad, Ashwina and Kartika are considered very holy and this period is believed to be the sleeping period (Yoga Nidra) of Vishnu. 

As Vishnu goes to bed on the Sukla Ekadasi of Ashada, it is called Sayana Ekadasi. And when He turns on His side on the Sukla Ekadasi of Bhadrapada, it is called Parivartana Ekadasi and when He wakes up on Sukla Ekadasi of Kartika, it is called Uttana Ekadasi. 

Chinna Jeeyar Swamyji will stay at the ashram overseeing different religious and spiritual activates during these four months, starting from July 27 to November 23.  The Chaturmasa Vratham will be observed starting from Ashada Purnima to Karthika Purnima and the Vratham would start on Friday, the auspicious occasion of the Guru Purnima on July 27 at 11.52 pm and will last till 3.36 am, it said. Diksha Sweekarana will be held on  July 27.  

As part of activities during the period, the Sravana Masotsavams will be held from August 13 to September 7, 2018. Similarly, the Bhadrapada Masotsavams will take place from September 13 to 21. And, during the Asweeja Masotsavams, the Sarannavarathri festival will be observed from October 10 to 18.
