Congress revs up Shakti app to boost interaction with cadre
Hyderabad: The Congress is vigorously promoting the Shakti App of the party for better coordination in the organisation and to establish a link between the leadership and the workers.
The App which has been launched early this year has been promoted by the PCC and the senior leaders have been exhorting the party functionaries to enroll maximum number of workers in it in every meeting.
The leaders of district, mandal and village level have been told to enroll workers in the App and in every meeting the PCC leadership is stressing on the need for the enrollment of the workers. The leaders have been organizing special programmes to encourage enrollment.
According to the party leaders so far 75,000 have been enrolled in the state and the target is to enroll about 5 lakh. As per reports, the Amberpet Assembly constituency has more number of enrollment as 12,000 have joined the App.
Huzurnagar constituency has witnessed enrollment of 5,227, Kodad 5,778, Nirmal 1016, Nizamabad (Urban) 1071, Balkonda 1,247, Peddapalle 1074, Parigi 1532, Jadcherla 1,383, Deverakadra 1,153, Nagarkurnool 1,781, Achampet 1,183, Kalwakurthi 1,176 and Kollapur 1,075.
The enrollment is going at a slow pace in other constituencies. The App has been introduced for better communication between the leadership and the workers. The selected national leaders could communicate their views through the App and the workers could give feedback.
All a party worker needs to do is to send his voter ID number to the App on a designated phone number. The worker would be added and he would be able to access some features. The AICC wants the cadre to be kept informed about the happenings in the party. It wants to inform the programmes of the party to the workers directly so that they could use it for the activities.
Before the introduction of the App there was no direct contact between the AICC and the workers. It has to pass on the information through the media or through the meetings. To overcome this problem the party decided to leverage the benefits of technology. Already it has been using the social media tools like FaceBook, Whatsapp and Twitter.
The workers could inform the leadership about the party conditions in their areas and the issues they have been facing through the App. They could give feedback on the activities being taken up by the party.
The party would use the feedback given by the cadre to improve the functioning of the organisation. It would take actions on the issues being reported by the workers. According to some leaders the feedback taken through the App would also be used to select candidates in the Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies.
