Khammam dist aims at top rank in THKK

Khammam: For protecting the environment and to increase the green cover, everyone must participate in the Haritha Haram programme and plant a sapling each along with protecting it, suggested Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal here on Thursday.

The Police Commissioner, along with District Forest Officer Sunial Hariyat and Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Jha, launched the fourth phase of Haritha Haram programme here on the premises of Sri Krishna Memorial High School and planted around 500 saplings along with the students.

Speaking on the occasion, the Tafseer Iqbal said all walks of people along with public representatives and students should make it a grand success for increasing the green cover by participating in the prestigious programme ‘Telanganaku Haritha Haram’ taken up by the State government.

The Police department has been handed over the responsibility of planting of about 27 lakhs saplings across the district as part of the fourth phase of Haritha Haram programme by the District Collector. Necessary steps were being taken for planting the saplings in the forest regions of Wyra, Sattupalli, Madhira and Khammam rural mandals with the cooperation of the Forest department, he informed.

Sunil Hariyat, speaking on the occasion, said the Haritha Haram programme had been implemented successfully across the district for the past three years with the cooperation of the Forest and Police officials. With the same spirit, the fourth phase would be completed successfully to place the district on the top position, he said.

Additional DCP K Suresh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (AR) Venkateshwarlu, Vijay Babu, Town ACP Venkatrao, Task Force ACP Rehaman, Reserve Inspectors Srinivas, Nageshwar Rao, Ravi, Madan Mohan and the school principal Sheshagiri Rao were present along with others.
