Nekkonda (Warangal Rural): The Telangana government is committed to the promises it made, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari said. The Deputy CM, who inaugurated additional classrooms at the Gurukul School at Nekkonda on Tuesday, said the government under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is strengthening the education system to provide quality education to the poor and downtrodden.

Stating that he passed through Nekkonda Gurukul School last year and visited it during the night and found that there were no proper facilities and the girl students sought to introduce junior college in their place. “At that time, I promised them to provide additional classrooms. Today, I fulfilled my promise and upgraded the school as junior college,” Srihari said.

He said that earlier, there are no proper facilities in government schools and the respective governments did not appoint necessary teaching faculty and failed to release any funds thereby encouraged the private educational institutions. Hence many students joined the private schools.

The government now increased the basic amenities in the government schools and is providing quality education. As a result, the students are joining the government schools by bidding good bye to the private institutions.

“The SC, ST girls are not getting proper accommodation in the towns when they go to study degree courses, because of their caste and on learning this, the CM had set up at least 53 gurukul degree colleges for SC, ST girls,” he said.

The pass percentage of students in gurukul schools is better than many other schools and hence it has been decided to launch one more gurukul school in each district and thereby set up 27 more schools.

The Deputy CM stated that we will change the shape of the government schools in Warangal district in the next five to six months. Noticing that there is no proper dormitory facility for girl students in Nekkonda Junior college to the corresponding number of girls studying in the college, it has been decided to construct another building at a cost of Rs 3 crore and orders were issued for the construction of building by duly allocating funds.

For the benefit of girl students and to avoid difficulties to them, the Minister directed the officials to set up LED lights within a month. Moreover, he had directed the police to have a continuous patrolling to prevent the entry of miscreants, who wander to trouble the girl students.

Health and hygiene kits are being distributed to all the girl students, who are studying in all the government schools in the State from Class VII to Class XII, Srihari said. Civil Supplies Corporation chairman Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, Rural district collector M Haritha, Gurukul educational society
director Satyanarayana Reddy, and other local officials participated in the programme.
