‘State failed to develop Warangal’

Update: 2018-08-01 05:30 IST

Warangal: The Warangal District Congress Committee (DCC) president Nayini Rajender Reddy alleged that the TRS, which failed to fulfil its poll promises, is trying to hoodwink the people by bringing a new issue now and then. During his padayatra here on Tuesday, he criticised the Central and State governments for their anti-people policies.

He said that the local MLA and the GWMC Mayor failed to get funds to develop the slum areas in the city. While the people of the colony are suffering from problems, the local MLA, Mayor and other officials are turned a blind eye towards them.

The DCC president alleged: “Both of them are interested on commissions and percentages on works sanctioned but they are least bothered about development. It is the duty of the local corporator to fight for funds for the development of the division.”

He reminded that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who laid the foundation stone for the development of 38th division, failed to allocate funds for it. The drainage system is haphzard and several drains were in many districts were in dilapidated state. He demanded that the government take up construction of new drainages and provide basic amenities in the colony.

He questioned the people’s representatives for the poor hygienic facilities in the main junction in the absence of proper dustbins and all the garbage is being strewn on the roads. Moreover, the sanitary staff failed to clean them regularly and thereby lots of foul smell is emanating from it.
The local leaders should fight for additional funds but none of them dared to question the Chief Minister for more funds when he visited the district, Reddy said.

He said that the Mayor and other officials had turned a deaf ear when the people demanded for reduction of water tax to apartments. After the Opposition stormed the corporation office, then only the water tax was reduced.

Reddy demanded immediate release of a White Paper on the development in various divisions and sanction funds as the government had one more year to go for people’s mandate once again.
