Karimnagar: The TRS government is neglecting education sector in the State and Satavahana University didn’t get UGC recognition due to the government’s negligence, alleged former Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar.

Prabhakar came heavily on the ruling TRS at a press meet at R&B guest house here on Tuesday. He said that all the universities including those present in Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar and Nizamabad got UGC recognition, except Satavahana University in Karimnagar. The government did not even appointed vice-chancellor to the university since four years.

Is this what Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is giving to the people of Karimnagar, who stood by his side during the Telangana Movement? he questioned. The people will teach a befitting lesson to TRS government, which is trying to dissolve the government education sector, he warned.

When an indefinite hunger strike was organised one year ago demanding the government establishment of medical college in Karimnagar, the government had promised to establish medical college in Karimnagar.

But the college was set up in Siddipet and classes were also going on in that college, Prabhakar pointed out. Local TRS leaders, MP and MLAs never dared to question the CM as to why the college was not allotted to Karimnagar. Karimnagar is the only district which do not have a medical college among the ten districts in the State, he stated.

The former MP prophesied that the TRS government will rule for another eight months only. The people are watching its every move and ready to teach a lesson by giving bumper majority to Congress in the coming up 2019 Assembly elections.

After forming the government in 2019, the Congress will establish a medical college in Karimnagar along with developing the 500-bed government hospital to provide better medical services to the poor people.

Congress leaders Karra Rajeshekar, Mallikarjun, Rajendar, Nagi Shekar, Vedam, Veera Reddy, Sadananda Chary and Bucchi Reddy were present in the press meet.
