TS welfare programmes unique, says R&B Minister

Khammam: Unlike any other State in the country, the Telangana State government has been introducing several unique service-oriented programmes for the wellbeing of the people, according to Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao. He said everyone must participate voluntarily in such programmes.

He was speaking at an awareness programme on ‘Kanti Velugu’ which is going to be launched on August 15 by the State government with peoples’ representatives, Health officials and medical staff of united Khammam district here at S R Gardens in Khammam on Thursday.

Attending as a chief guest to the programme, Nageswara Rao said among all the sense organs, eyes were the most important. Knowing the value of vision and eyes, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, along with other intellectuals, designed this wonderful programme called ‘Kanti Velugu’ which would be launched on the auspicious Independence Day on August 15, he added.

All necessary arrangements were made for conducting eye tests to about 3.5 crores of people present across the State. It is the responsibility of every public representative and official to make the programme a grand success from village to mandal and district levels by conducting awareness programmes, said the Minister.

All the people who had problems with vision and eyes must utilise this opportunity by attending the camps which would be set up in their respective villages and mandal headquarters, he said.

The Telangana State government with its innovative schemes and programmes was paving the way to nation building for the all-round development of the people, added the Minister.

Local MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar, State Seed Development Corporation Chairman Kondabala Koteshwara Rao, State Industries Development Corporation Chairman Budan Baig, MLC Balasani Lakshminarayana, City Mayor Dr Papa Lal, Khammam District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar, Bhadradri-Kothagudem District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu, Director of Medical and Health Department Dr Srinivas, City Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Jha, DM & HOs of Khammam and Kothagudem Dr Kondal Rao and Dayananda Swamy respectively and Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Marapaka Nagesh were present along with others.
