KCR impresses PM Modi with wishlist of 11

​New Delhi: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was closeted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi for about 40 minutes, here on Saturday, seeking the latter's intervention in the full implementation of the bifurcation promises and clearance of all pending demands.

Listing out his priorities into 11 subjects, the Chief Minister handed over the Prime Minister 11 different letters highlighting the necessity to clear the same. Bifurcation of the High Court was brought on top of the agenda once again with the CM pointing to the PM that a great injustice was being done by the delay in doing so. The injustice was not only in the number Telangana judges in the existing system in the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad but there was also a great unrest among the Bar and it should not be prolonged further, he said.

KCR also took up, in right earnest, the fate of the Kaleshwaram project which as a national project should have been provided with additional funds as sought by the state government. He said the Telangana government had also proposed a hike in the existing reservations to BC/SC/ST communities as their percentage in the population had gone up following bifurcation of the erstwhile state. The Act was passed by the Telangana Assembly and was pending with the Home Ministry. He sought PM's intervention in speeding up the same to seek President’s assent. The same was also sought for the new zonal system for smooth functioning of the administration following the bifurcation of districts to 33 in the state.

The Chief Minister also sought Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in the newly constituted districts. KCR expressed his dismay at the reported statement of Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad that the Centre was dropping the proposal of ITIR for the state that was announced in 2013. The state government had earmarked land parcels and many companies had begun setting shop too. It would be a discredit to the Centre if it did not clear the proposal, he said, urging the PM to direct the Union IT Ministry to clear the same. He also sought an IIIT and an IIM for the state as promised in the bifurcation Act.
