Kadiyam Srihari launches Rythu Bima
Duggondi (Warangal Rural): Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari on Monday launched Rythu Bima, the life insurance scheme for farmers, at Thimmampet village under Duggondi mandal.
Distributing Rythu Bima bonds, he said that both Rythu Bandhu scheme, which provides a financial assistance of Rs 8,000 per acre every annum, and the Rythu Bima that provides insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh to each farmer, would go a long way in protecting the interests of the cultivators.
It may be noted here that beginning August 15, farmers in the age group of 18 to 59 years will get an insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh each. The government will pay Rs 2,271 as premium per head as part of its tie up with the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).
The kin will get the insured sum within 10 days of the death in case the insured farmer dies. The government will pay Rs 1,000 crore towards premium on behalf of the farmers.
Srihari said that government had established godowns with a storing capacity of 21 lakh Metric Tonnes to facilitate farmers to store their
produce in case of lack of remunerative price.
District Collector M Haritha, Civil Supplies Corporation chairman Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, Agros chairman Lingampally Kishan Rao and ZP chairperson G Padma were among others present.
