Protect the nature: Speaker
Bhupalpally: The human development is interlinked with nature, Speaker Sirikonda Madhusudhana Chary said, stressing the importance of Haritha Haram, a massive plantation drive to improve green cover in the State.
Taking part in Haritha Haram programme along with District Collector D Amay Kumar, Superintendent of Police R Bhaskaran and district forest officer T Ravi Kiran near Mylaram under Ganapuram mandal on Wednesday, he said that if nature exhibits its anger, then there was no possibility human existence.
“If we protect the nature, it protects us,” Speaker said, referring to the state government’s aim to increase the green cover to 33 per cent from the present 23 per cent. The credit goes to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for implementing the plantation drive in a high priority mode, he said.
Several countries tried to take up plantation drive on a massive note but failed, he said, expressing confidence that Telangana would achieve its goal of planting 240 crore saplings. He appealed to people to participate in the Haritha Haram so that to turn every village into a green ornament.
District’s target is to plant 1.13 crore saplings and it needs people’s support, Collector said. ITDA PO Chakradhar Rao and RDO Veera Brahmachary were among others present.
