Youth Congress celebrates 59th Formation Day

Khammam: The Youth Congress celebrated its 59th foundation day under the leadership of former NSUI president, Yadlapalli Santosh, here at Sanjeeva Reddy Bhavan here on Thursday.

Attending as chief guest, District Congress official spokesperson Puvvalla Durga Prasad said that Youth Congress was founded by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1971 and since then it has been working for the welfare of students besides producing many great leaders.

The aim of founding Youth Congress was to raise students issues on various platforms and get redressal. It is one of the biggest student unions in the world, he added.

Addressing the members, Yadlapalli Santosh said that the Youth Congress was formed with the aim of empowering student community and to make them responsible citizens and leaders based on the values of democracy, secularism, liberty, quality and equality.

He said that the Congress has started internal election process in Youth Congress in the year 2010. It is helping skilled student leadership to come forward and lead the union. The process is also providing equal chance to students of middle class families to lead the student union.

He urged the representatives to strive hard for strengthening the Youth Congress from village level besides fighting against the State and Central governments which were adopting anti-youth policies in the State and at the Centre.

National Students Union of India district president Veginati Uday, general secretary Duppati Sandeep, Banothu Jaya Prakash, Pawan Chary, Banothu Ravi Kumar, Mikkilineni Narendra, Fareed and Narala Naresh were present along with others.
