One held for duping Muslim pilgrims to tune of Rs 10 cr

Hyderabad: The Central Crime Station (CCS) police arrested Sayyad Altaf Hussain who had collected Rs 10 crore from the pilgrims on Friday. According to police, Sayyad Altaf Hussain alias Saheb started a tours and travels company on the name Karwane Syed-Us-Sajidin (AS) Umrah & Ziyarath Tours and Travels Pvt Ltd. 

The accused collected an amount of Rs 10 crore from about 3,500 pilgrims through Dabeerpura, Hyderabad branch to send them for Umrah and Ziyarath pilgrimage and cheated them by not sending them to assured pilgramages.

The accused established the company in Kadapa, opened a branch in Dabeerpura in 2017 and extended branches all over India. The accused appointed Mirza Asadullah Baig as the branch manager and made wide publicity of packages for Umrah and Ziyarath and told the pilgrims that they will be send on low tariff. They have collected Rs 18, 000 to Rs 36,000 from each pilgrim to and fro for Umrah and Ziyarath.

About 9 cases were registered against the accused in different police stations of Andhra Pradesh. Police booked cases under sections 406, 420, r/w 34 IPC of CCS, and produced the accused before the court for judicial custody.
