Warangal: The members of the Forum for Better Warangal (FBW), who have been raising a few questions over the impracticability of some components mentioned in the draft Master Plan-2041, on Tuesday met Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) Chairman Marri Yadava Reddy and submitted a memorandum to him.

The FBW president Pulluru Sudhakar urged the chairman to look into their objections and suggestions. Some of the suggestions made are … The proposal for the Hyderabad-Warangal Economic Corridor is oral and the State government is yet to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for it, hence the Master plan would have pondered over practical alternatives instead of presuming it to happen to trigger the economic development in the KUDA area.

Master Plan proposes on outer ring road which is within the area of GWMC and very near to city core area.  if cannot be termed as ORR. The FBW felt that there was a need for another outer ring road (ORR) as the present one that was proposed by the KUDA is too close to core city.

The FBW suggested that the road from Waddepally Church Junction to Railway tracks must be widened to 100 feet road instead of 60 feet as per the draft plan. The draft Master plan proposes the development of institutional zones, recreation and tourism, logistic infrastructure in the villages merged with the GWMC. However, it’s not possible as the farmers are not willing to part their lands.

As per the plan, Madikonda, Mamnoor, Kadipikonda, Somidi, Waddepally etc. villages will be turned into public, semi-public and recreational zones. But the farmers are against it and they have already started agitations. Against this backdrop, KUDA should identify government lands to create public, semi-public and recreational zones, the FBW said.

In the Smart City proposal, central part of Warangal was chosen for area-based development (ABD). However, the KUDA didn’t include ABD in the draft Master Plan.  The FBW suggested total Smart City Project includes central business district must be integrated with Master Plan.
