Godavari receding

Kothagudem: Water level in Godavari River that had fast nearing the danger mark on Monday is receding slowly at Bhadrachalam. On Tuesday, the river water level reached 35.1 feet.   

On Monday it was recorded 36.2 feet but it has been coming down slowly. Last month also the water level had gone up due to heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of the river and it had reached at 35 feet.  After that it came down slowly and reached 22 feet. 

Since the flood water has reached the bathing steps of the river the devotees are facing problem due to fast speed of the current. They fear they may be swept away by the current if they take holy dip in the river. 

On the other hand, the historical temple Parnasala which is located near the temple town Bhadrachalam was also filled with the rain water.  The Sitamma vagu is flooded with the rain water.

The tourists and devotees are facing problem in visiting the water-logged area. Meanwhile, water level in all minor and major irrigation projects in the district have reached full capacity with heavy inflow of rainwater.
