Officials asked to spread awareness on Raitu Bima scheme

Gadwal: Joint Collector of Gadwal Venugopal directed all the Agriculture department officials of each and every mandal to conduct regular awareness camps in the villages among the farmers and spread the importance of Raitu Bhima scheme and encourage them to get enrolled under the scheme so that they can be compensated through insurance in case of any untoward eventually happens to the life of the farmer. 

Venugopal said that government is providing an insurance cover of Rs. 5 lakh to each and every farmer who has got benefited under the Raitu Bhandu scheme, therefore the farmer in the age group of 18-59 years is eligible and must be motivated to get enrolled under this scheme by providing necessary documents. 

“We have directed the concerned agriculture officials to ensure that while enrolling the farmers under Raitu Bhima scheme they should ensure all the necessary documents are enclosed and verified accordingly. Particularly, information relating to the extent of farming, what kind of crop is sown, the crop harvesting methods all these details must be clearly incorporated in the application form; otherwise the farmer will face problems during claiming of crop loss or any other benefits under the scheme.

Therefore we have directed them to conduct regular awareness programmes and ensure that the farmers get all information about the Raitu Bheema and accordingly they should provide the details to get enrolled under the Raitu Bheema scheme,” informed the Joint Collector. 

As part of the awareness programmes for the farmers, the agriculture officials were told to visit the villages and provide training and awareness about the various farming techniques, farm harvesting. They were also told to provide information to the farmers as to how to avoid crop loss during calamities.

The JC said this year the Central government under the Pradhana mantri Phasal Bheema yojana, has also included paddy crop under its preview. So now the paddy farmers are also eligible to get insurance claim in the event of crop loss, informed the JC.
