Social media users cautioned against cybercrimes

Khammam: Without proper knowledge about the social media platforms like Facebook and Whatsapp, the youth are addicted to them and facing lot of problems, stated Police Commissioner Tafseer Iqbal here on Thursday.

The top cop chaired a meeting with the Cyber Lab Technical team at the Commissionerate. Speaking on the occasion, the Police Commissioner said, “by using advanced technology the police are able to solve many cases and saved life of many who had become victim of cyber criminals.”

As many as 43 cases were registered under cyber crime out of which 34 were registered under cheating of drawing amounts from the ATM’s using One Time Password (OTP) by cyber criminals, he informed.

National and international cyber criminals are using various kinds of techniques to cheat the people. Some of them are introducing themselves as bank representatives and with their mesmerising talk they collect the OTP of ATM cards from the people and are drawing the money, said the Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal.

However, whosoever uses the social media platforms to cheat people can be caught easily through social analysis tools within minutes. So, the people must develop awareness on how to use social media platforms and must not post the photos which encourage anti-social elements, warned the CP.

The Commissioner appreciated the efforts of Cyber Lab Technical Team for their excellent work in cracking down cyber cases that are registered under Commissionerate limits.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police K Suresh Kumar, Special Branch Inspector Sampath Kumar, Technical Team in-charge Srinivas, Suresh, Prasad, Y V Krishna Rao and Radha Krishna were present along with others.
