Hyderabad: As part of the last mile connectivity, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) is planning to bring a new mobile app, which would help the passengers in planning their journey.

According to a senior official, the corporation entered into an agreement with an organisation ‘Society for Accident Free Environment’ to bring up a mobile application on the lines of the app, which specifies the timings of MMTS trains. This organisation provides technology to track the movement of the vehicles on the roads through vehicle tracking system.

The mobile app would help the passengers in knowing the exact time their bus would arrive on the LED display boards, said the official. The display boards would be first placed in the air-conditioned bus stations and later at other bus stops in the city, he added. The bus stops would be geo fenced and the officials would control the system through main server in the head office.

In a recent meeting of the task force committee formed by the government on transport had discussed on the need to have a common ticketing either by a mobile app or by integrating all the transport service providers like TSRTC, MMTS, Metro Rail, Ola and Uber, Autos and others. The plan is to integrate the RTC app with the Metro app T-Savari, which would ensure the passengers get information about the buses available at the Metro Stations, said the official.

The TSRTC had been taking up Vehicle Tracking and Passenger Information System (VTPS) and till now it included GPS enabled VTPS in about 1,200 buses in the city. However, the progress of this project is not moving fast and had been delayed. The corporation had started the service on route 115 (Koti- Uppal), 115BV, 115C, 115ZP, 113K/L and 113 M/W under pilot project but later there was no progress. The RTC Greater Hyderabad Zone has a fleet of over 3,600 buses and transport over 34 lakh passengers every day.

The official said that the organisation which is assisting the RTC in getting the app is not charging from the corporation. They would get money through advertisements, said the official.
