TS govt hands over `25 cr to Kerala CM

Hyderabad: As promised Telangana government on Sunday handed over Rs 25 crore cheque to Kerala government on behalf of Telangana State. Home Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy has given it to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Tiruvanathapuram.

The Home Minister took a special flight from Hyderabad and reached the capital of Kerala accompanied by a team of officials. The amount is as immediate assistance from Telangana government for flood relief activities, he said. 

As per a directive of the Chief Minister, the Home Minister reached Kerala and closeted with Vijayan and had a brief talk on the relief and rehabilitation measures being taken up. He also informed about k Chandrashekar Rao’s readiness to offer more help to Kerala in future if necessary.

Narsimha Reddy expressed serious concern at the rain fury, spoil sports of floods which left God’s own State in shambles. He also informed that the Telangana government has immediately reacted to the rain ravaged Kerala and came forward to provide immediate financial assistance.

The Home Minister conveyed concerns expressed by Telangana Chief Minister to the people of Kerala. He was understood to have expressed support to Vijayan’s demand to the Centre to announce the Kerala floods as national calamity.

Naini also said that the Telangana government has already sent Rs 40 lakh worth 20 tons of milk powder, RO machines and Rs 50 lakh worth nutritious food items for children to Kerala.
