Hyderabad: Raghuram Reddy is one among several students waiting to take part in the mop-up round counselling of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG)-2018. The online registration to take part in the counselling process has been closed. Yet, he is waiting for the registration process to be opened. According to Raghuram's father that initially the mop-up round is scheduled to start from August 12. But, the MCC website flashed the information that the counselling had been postponed and the final round of counselling would start from August 16. Students could register online by submitting their details on or before August 18, to take part in the process. The mop-up round is meant to fill the vacant seats after the NEET second round of counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions for the academic year 2018-19.

Speaking to The Hans India, Srikanth J said, "When I tried to register my name online, the website ran a scroll that the registration process would start from 4 pm on August 16. And, since then, till the evening of August 18, the website continues to show the same message and it continued even on August 19," he added.

Raghuram's father pointed out that since the MCC had earlier postponed the counselling, "We thought that registration process is going to be extended because of which, “the MCC website has been running the message. Repeated efforts to do the registration process have failed," he said.

Students, however, were given a rude shock that after repeated unsuccessful attempts when the students tried once again on the evening of August 18, the website returned a message flashing the registration process had been closed, they claimed.

But, "the same message on the MCC website that the registration process would start from 4 pm continued even August 19 that providing misleading information and misguiding the aspirants. But, on August 20, the website announced that the provisional results of mop-up are now available and “in case of any discrepancy,” it asked the students to mail to the MCC. And, the allotment letters of the seats of the mop-up round of counselling would be made available from August 21, it said.
