ACP warns of action against underage motorists

Khammam : The youth must follow the traffic rules strictly and become model for others said, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sada Niranjan here on Tuesday.

The ACP was addressing the traffic rules awareness programme at Gayatri Degree College in Khammam.  Attending as a chief guest, ACP Sada Niranjan said that India is the country where more than 50 percent of population is comprised of youth. They must behave with responsibility in society and must respect the judicial system and Indian constitution that is framed for well being of every citizen of the country.

The youth of present generation must be aware of traffic rules and must implement them strictly. The parents must educate their children to follow traffic rules. The students who are less than 18 years of age should not drive the vehicles and if caught while driving, actions would be taken against the owners of the vehicles as per law, he warned.

Many road accidents are taking place due to lack of awareness on traffic rules. The people who drive the two-wheelers must wear helmets and people driving four-wheelers should wear seat belts, advised the ACP.

Fast driving, over taking the other vehicles, driving negligently and driving under the influence of alcohol are some of the reasons for many road accidents that are taking place across the country which must be strictly avoided, he added.

Traffic inspector N Chitti Babu said that traffic in Khammam city is increasing day by day. It is the responsibility of every college and school management to educate their children about the traffic rules along with obtaining the fitness certificates for their buses. College Principal K Sunil Kumar, correspondent K Ravi and the students were present at the Traffic Awareness programme.
