Conclave showcases recycling ideas
Hyderabad: The two day National Waste Alternative Conclave exhibited a wide range of alternatives in recycling waste. The exhibitors explained citizens how to earn revenue by disposing different types of wastes.
There were over 40 exhibitors participating in the National Waste Alternative Conclave at Shilpa Kala Vedika at Madhapur and most of them provided citizens possibilities of an alternative use of plastic and opportunity to generate revenues through waste.
There was one such stall Sanshodhan, an e-waste exchange programme, which helps citizens in disposing off the electronics and other gadgets and also earn revenue. According to the exhibitors, Sanshodhan is a virtual e-waste aggregation platform motivated by ‘Make in India’, that enables development of smart cities and States. It helps the bulk consumers and other businesses such as public sector units, educational and other institutions, IT companies and individuals to dispose of their e-waste responsibly at one click.
E-waste exchange aims to enable businesses in reducing Carbon footprint and contribute to meet sustainable development goals, said Gaurav, representative of the stall. He said that for disposing of the e-waste online, the individuals can log on to their website www.e-wasteexchange. com and the logistic support partner would collect the e-waste and the company would pay for the waste.
There is another stall set up by Ixora Corporate Service, which has kept a reverse vending machine, where the citizens can dump the waste and get rewarded in the form of coupons of various organisations. Business Development Manager of ICS Vikas Thakur said that the machine can process pet, glass and aluminium and in turn the individuals can get rewarded in the form of discount coupons, which can be redeemed or can also be donated.
There are similar other stalls, which provide better alternative to the citizens. Several self help groups prepared bags, which can be used instead of plastics, there was a stall, which exhibits chairs and tea poi sets made of tyres and tubes, flooring tile made of used plastic covers, a bamboo cycle etc.
