GHMC chief vows to end graft, develop Hyderabad further

Hyderabad: Newly-appointed Commissioner of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Dana Kishore said all citizens’ civic related issues would be taken care of with transparency and without corruption. Involving citizens for overall development of the city was his main aim, the Commissioner said while interacting with the media persons here on Tuesday.

In the last four years, a lot of improvement had been made with regard to citizen services and it would be further strengthened to sort out all citizen-related grievances on priority. When compared to other municipal corporations in the country, the GHMC was taking up various developmental activities in a very faster manner, he said and pointed out that 2BHK housing, signal free traffic system and SRDP works were being taken up in a phased and fast manner to complete them within the stipulated time. 

The Commissioner said he had a very clear vision for overall development of the city and all civic-related issues would be sorted out strengthening the existing GHMC App, Dial 100, Twitter and other channels of communication apart from strengthening the Prajavani programme which was being held on every Monday. To have a clear transparency, a separate feedback set up wing would be organised soon, he said.

The existing dumping yards would be increased, removal of encroachments on nalas would be taken care of in a systematic manner without any difficulties to the affected people, duly rehabilitating to them providing better houses, utilising the housing scheme of the government, Dana Kishore added.

The GHMC is presently deploying 22 vehicles to transport construction debris waste. Now, specific instructions have been given to the concerned officials to enhance 100 vehicles to speed up the process of the lifting in the coming days. The Commissioner said awareness would be created among citizens with regard to rain harvesting pits involving citizens to take up in their colonies and households. 

The GHMC had experienced engineering officials and also young and dynamic IAS officers, he said adding that with the help of them overall development of the city would be taken up taking the suggestions from the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor and the corporators in the coming days. 

The Commissioner thanked Dr B Janardhan Reddy, who took pains for getting good name in the State and national level and lauded the project of replacement of LED lights where four lakhs and odd street lights were installed, creating records of sorts.
