Construction of 2BHK houses at Mallapur put on hold
Mallapur: The construction double bedroom houses for homeless and poor slum dwellers started by the Telangana government in May at Mallapur, is likely to be completed by February 2019. The works were getting delayed and were expected to be completed by February 2019, said Devender Reddy, Mallapur corporator.
“The 2BHK houses built in rural areas are on 200 square yards consisting of 2 bedrooms, kitchen, hall and two bathrooms. About 396 flats are being constructed at Mallapur. The houses will be allotted to the locals of Naga Laxmi Nagar, Annapurna Colony, Brahmpuri Colony and a few other colonies,” Devender said. The infrastructure cost has been fixed at Rs 84,000 per each dwelling unit and a budget of Rs 34 lakh has been sanctioned by the Telangana government,” he added.
However, the budget was not sufficient for the project due to which the works have been stopped. This was the reason for works getting delayed, said the corporator. “We are waiting for the new tenders and various reasons have been deliberately delaying the project,” added Devender. Pavan Kumar, a resident said, “The officials said they will allot the houses in December but now the date has been extended to February. The construction works have been stopped, we asked the corporator about it but there is no response.” Another resident Lavanya said, “The works are getting delayed day by day and there is no response from the project engineer and the corporator.”
