Karnan assumes charge as District Collector

Khammam : R V Karnan assumed office as the Collector of Khammam district here on Thursday. Former District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar along with other officials gave a warm welcome to the new Collector by handing over a sapling as a gift and conveyed best wishes to him.

It needs to be mentioned here that the State government on Tuesday transferred and posted RV Karnan, who was the Collector of Mancherial district, as Khammam Collector in place of DS Lokesh Kumar.

After creating of new districts, RV Karnan, a 2012-batch IAS officer hailing from Tamil Nadu was posted as the Collector of Mancherial district in 2016.

Karnan, who left a mark on the administration with his style of functioning and was regarded as one of the favourite Collectors of the tribal people in erstwhile Adilabad district.

While serving as Project officer for ITDA-Utnoor, Karnan maintained cordial relations with tribal people and learnt basics of Gondu language. He also set up a unique school ‘Vikasam’ for differently-abled children in Utnoor and a daycare centre for senior citizens in Mancherial.

District Forest Officer Dr Sunil S Hiramath, City Municipal Commissioner J Srinivas Rao, Revenue Divisional Officer T Purnachandram, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad M Nagesh, Project Director of DRDA Indumathi, DM&HO Dr Kondal Rao, District Agriculture Officer Jhansi Lakshmi Kumari and District Public Relation Officer M Srinivas Rao were among those who conveyed wishes to the new Collector RV Karnan.
