Post TRS meet, State to see high political heat: KTR
Hyderabad: Information Technology Minister K T Rama Rao said that there had been discussions on elections in the recently conducted meeting of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He said that there would be lot of political heat in the State after the public meeting of the party.
In an informal chat with media, K T Rama Rao said that massive public meeting of the party Pragati Nivedana Sabha would intensify the political activity in the State. “We are nine months away from the elections and after the public meeting the opponents will also want to organise meetings,” said Rama Rao.
Generally, party in power will not want elections and Opposition would want to dethrone the governments but in Telangana it seems to be opposite as we are ready for elections at any time. The opposition should take it as an opportunity if it happens, Rao said.
Rama Rao said that the Congress was unprepared for elections. “There is a crisis of issues for the Congress party. They do not have any issue to fight for. We will cross 50 per cent mark in terms of votes in the elections and the ‘Maha Ghatiya Bandhan’ (Maha Gathbandhan) is not a threat for us,” he said. When asked why the party was preparing for elections right now, Rao said, who knows Prime Minister Narendra Modi may decide to bring legislation for advancing the elections. He said that the TRS was neither a friend of BJP nor Congress. He said that the Congress is like a child which prepares on the last day of exam like the back benchers.
When asked about the Rafael deal and allegations of Congress party president Rahul Gandhi, Rama Rao said that Rahul knows nothing either about Rafale or Bofors. He referred Rahul Gandhi as Rafale Gandhi. “I am not as intelligent as ‘Rafale Gandhi’. I do not have anything personal against him, but I do not like the party which he presents. I have deep rooted disrespect towards the Congress because it is the root cause of all evils in the country,” Rama Rao added.
Rao said that the Federal Front still exists and added that the party was keenly watching the developments at national level. He said that there was possibility of regional parties coming together.
When asked how he feels as Chief Minister in waiting, Rao said that he does not want to live in delusion and added that there were lot more competitive people than him in Telangana. However, he said, “I was not nominated by my father. I was thrown into politics. I took part in Telangana agitation three years before I became MLA. I am not a fool to aspire the post. I wanted to see Telangana and it is done. I am not greedy either, the media reports keep me amused and keep me happy,” Rama Rao said.
Talking about the house arrest of Virasam writers, Rao said, “It was part of the inquiry and who am I to interfere in the issue. It was Prime Minister’s assassination plot and I came to know about this through twitter. I do not need to know everything. If anyone has issues, they should go to judiciary.” He said that he would not endorse the activities of Urban Naxals. He said that the Left parties were active, but the people were not with them. The left do not sync to the present generations thinking and this was proved in West Bengal and Tripura.
The Minister said that the Telangana government was feeling let down by the Centre. “As a State, Narendra Modi has let us down, there are many unfulfilled promises. We have to fight for what we should get easily. The promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act are not fulfilled,” said Rao. He said that the non-existence of BJP in Telangana seems to be the reason fornon-support.
