Prof Kodandaram fires salvo at TRS for misrule
Hyderabad: Even as the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is gearing up for the mammoth Pragati Nivedana Sabha to be held at Kongara Kolan on Sunday, opposition parties have launched a scathing attack on the ruling party for the four-year misrule that led to miseries for people of the State. Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) president M Kodandaram had in fact appealed to people in all districts to corner TRS functionaries knocking their doors for the first time in four years as part of crowd mobilisation for the meeting on city outskirts on Sunday.
He wanted people in villages and districts to seek answers on failed promises on unemployment, farmer suicides, double bedroom, lands for poor Dalits, memorial for martyrs, government job and Rs 10 lakh financial assistance to martyrs’ kin, lifting of false cases foisted on youth during agitation, increased corruption, huge loan burden etc.
“For four years the ruling party leaders had not bothered to visit you or address your concerns.
This will be the right opportunity for you to pose questions and seek answers," was the call Kodandaram made to people, while speaking to media at party office on Friday. He said that Pragati (development) in Telangana was confined to Pragati Bhavan and one family while the rest of the State were facing hardships in the last four years.
“CAG reports faulted TRS governance. More than 2.5 lakh jobs were promised but hardly only a few thousand were filled. 5000 schools were also closed. Only 28 per cent of tanks under Mission Kakatiya were completed till now. Mission Bhagiratha that was the main flagship scheme for the government in its initial years has now been pushed back in priorities list. So, does it deadline that keeps changing.
Chief Minister also announced that he would not seek votes if the project was not completed on time. Anyone who raises voice was being targeted. Restrictions were imposed at Dharna Chowk at Indira Park, which was a venue for people to voice their protest democratically," he said.
Kodandaram said that if there was any Guinness record for an Indian Chief Minister not visiting Secretariat and functioning from his residence for years together, it should go to K Chandrashekar Rao. He said that State stood in top-3 in terms of farmers’ suicides, corruption, loans pushing Telangana into debt trap to name a new that overshadowed the little good work done by the government.
Kodandaram said that the State government should formulate guidelines for according State funeral to any individual. Nandamuri Harikrishna being given State funeral was not being objected but Telangana community was in the belief that K Chandrashekar Rao has not given Telangana crusaders like Konda Lakshman Bapuji, Guda Anjanna, Keshav Rao Jadhav etc due respect after their death, which was unfortunate, he said.
