Early polls, PRC to top TRS cabinet meet
Hyderabad: As part of making the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) battle-ready for early elections, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is expected to take six major decisions in the cabinet meeting to be held on Sunday. They include the crucial decision of dissolving the state Assembly, announcing PRC and IR to government employees, hike in pensions and sanction of new posts under the new zonal system. The cabinet is also expected to take a decision on more sops to BCs, SCs and STs besides some forward communities who are economically poor.
Top sources said KCR is likely to discuss in detail with his cabinet colleagues the proposal to dissolve the Assembly. Since it requires a collective decision of the state cabinet, the CM may seek the ministers’ nod to dissolve the House. If the cabinet takes the decision to go for early elections, Sunday’s cabinet meeting will be the last one for the TRS government.
Once the cabinet ratifies KCR’s proposal to dissolve the Assembly, the TRS supremo will announce the same later in the day in the public meeting – Pragati Nivedana Sabha, to be organised on the outskirts of Hyderabad and sound the poll bugle from its dais. The long-pending announcement of PRC and IR (Interim Relief) is included in the agenda of the cabinet meeting.
KCR is holding a meeting with the Finance department and PRC (Pay Revision Commission) members to finalise the IR. Sanction of new posts under the new zonal system which comes into effect four day ago in the state was being given top priority in the meeting. The cabinet is likely to give clearance to fill nearly 20,000 posts, most of which would be in Education, Police and Health departments.
Some more new schemes targeting the poorer sections will also be discussed and decisions will be taken on them. The proposal to extend all welfare schemes to the poor in forward communities on par with other communities is under consideration. Other issues like service rules, rejig of administration and allotment of lands will also be discussed at the cabinet meeting, sources said.
