Make students develop reading habit: ACP

Khammam: Stating that the book reading sharpens mind and enhances understanding of the world, the participants at the inauguration of a book exhibition in the city exhorted students and youth to spare some time to read books on different topics every day.

City Assistant Commissioner of Police Ganta Venkatrao inaugurated the book exhibition organised by Nava Telangana Publications to mark the occasion of ‘Teachers Day’ on September 5 here in front of the R&B Guest house in Khammam.

Speaking on the occasion, ACP G Venkatrao said that books provide enormous knowledge to various sections of people especially to the students who are appearing in the competitive examinations. Awareness must be created among the students for reading of books at least some time in libraries every day.

The students and youth must develop the habit of reading of various kinds of books from their childhood onwards by developing interest in reading and learning without any feeling pressure, he advised.

The District Libraries Department chairman Md Qamar said students who are facing competitive examinations must read the books of general knowledge, current affairs and Telangana history to grab the jobs.

He urged the book lovers, the students and youth along with various sections of society to attend the exhibition in large numbers and utilise the opportunity.
