Kakatiya University gears up for sports meet

Warangal: Kakatiya University (KU) Vice-Chancellor Prof R Sayanna said all the physical directors have to prepare their students in a systematic way as per their calibers and interest in sports and games.

Speaking at the University Sports Board-organised three districts university-level physical directors’ meet-2018 at the Senate Hall in KU campus on Tuesday, he said that onus is on authorities to identify a pool of talent and train them.

Secretary, University Sports Board and Director, Physical Education, Prof. B Suresh Lal said that physical directors play a vital role in moulding the youth in accordance with the latter’s chosen field - sports and games.

Further he advised that each physical director to concentrate, plan and prepare students in a minimum of three events. There are 42 events to participate in Inter-Collegiate tournament to be held in Kakatiya University and winners will be trained 15 days in University to participate in the Nationals, he added.

University Sports Board will be organised Inter-Collegiate Tournaments and Inter-Zonal Tournaments in the months of September and October, 2018 in two college one at KITS Warangal and another at University Campus to prepare students to participate in National.

Nearly 2,000 students will be competed in a number of events including 100 meters and 400 meters, relay events, high jump, long jump, kabbadi, cross country, gymnastics, archery, kho kho, swimming etc.

Controller of Examination and Incharge Registrar Prof. Mahender Reddy, Principal University College, Prof. T Ravinder Reddy, principal Physical Education College, Prof. V Satyanarayana and Prof. Ramesh Reddy, Physical Education, KITS Warangal, PDs of various colleges from Adilabad, Khammam and Warangal Districts were among others participated in the meeting.
