AITUC national general secretary Amarjeet Kaur on Monday accused the Narendra Modi government of allowing the corporate forces to siphon off the country’s wealth. Addressing a public meeting organised here to mark the conclusion of the 26-day AITUC bus yatra in Telangana, she criticised the Centre for failing to honour the BJP’s election promises and depriving workers of their rights. The Telangana AITUC State committee conducted the meeting chaired by city president B Venkatesham. City secretary M Narsimha welcomed.

Kaur attacked the Centre for providing credit worth hundreds of crores to corporate like Adani and Ambanis. She accused the government of failing to take action in preventing industrialists like Vijay Malya, Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi from escaping to foreign countries. She charged the Centre with amending laws to suit the interests of wealthy investors, with a warning of offering a stiff resistance if any attempt was made to amend or change any labour law.

The  AITUC leader called for rejecting the anti-labour policies being followed by the Modi government. She alleged that the BJP-led NDA government had cheated the educated unemployed by failing to honour its assurance of providing two crore jobs every year. She expressed confidence of unseating Modi in the 201 elections. Kaur demanded scrapping of the contract/outsourcing system and equal wages to equal work as stated in a supreme court ruling.

State president of AITUC T Narsimhan called for efforts to strongly resist the anti-labour policies of both the Central and State governments. He accused the Centre of failing to honour even one assurance given to workers during the last four and half years.
