Prepare error-free voters list: Collector to officials

Khammam: District Collector RV Karnan on Tuesday directed the booth level and constituency level officers to prepare error-free voters list in every constituency without giving any scope for irregularity.

An awareness meeting was held with the constituency and booth level officers and supervisors here at Ambedkar Bhavan in Khammam. Attending as a chief guest in the meeting, Karnan said when the booth level officers prepares the list without any mistakes, then the election process will be held on a smooth note without any untoward incidents.

A nominal list of voters is displayed in every poling centre on September 1 as per the new population ratio. An opportunity is provided for the candidates who are 18 years of age and will complete 18 years of age by 1 January, 2019 to enroll their names in the voters list from September 1 to October 31, he informed.

The Collector ordered the booth level officers and supervisors to take necessary steps for correcting the names in the voters list after receiving objections from the voters without giving any scope for irregularities and submit the final report by October 31 along with concentrating specially on the voters list of disabled people.

Prepare the list following the rules and guidelines issued by the Election Commission. Stringent actions would be taken against the officials who neglect their duties, warned the Collector.

District Joint Collector Ayesha Masrath Khanam speaking on the occasion ordered the officials concerned to focus more on college students who crossed 18 years of age for enrolling their names in the voter list by creating awareness among them about the value of vote by conducting special camps in the colleges.

The Revenue Divisional Officer T Purnachandra, Raghunathapalem Tahasildar Veerachary, Khammam Urban Tahasildar Sri Latha, booth level officer and supervisors were present.
