Appoint Revanth as head of poll campaign

Warangal: The City Congress working president Rajanala Srihari has urged the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to appoint A Revanth Reddy as the Chairman of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s election campaign committee.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Rajanala Srihari said it has been around 10 months since Revanth Reddy joined the Congress; however, he was not asked to play a key role in the party.

“With the elections are around the corner, it’s time for the party functionaries to rethink their strategy and allow him (Revanth) to lead the election campaign committee, so that he can create a havoc in the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) camp,” Rajanala Srihari said. He said he was writing a letter to the AICC President Rahul Gandhi with regard to this issue.

Recalling 2014 elections, Rajanala Srihari pointed out that due to bickerings in the party and leaders competing with each other to become Chief Minister, the Congress conceded power to TRS. The top leaders then had failed to derive proper mileage out of creation of Telangana State in 2014, he said.

“It’s time to step up campaign to explain to the people that it was the Congress which carved out Telangana State with the blessing of the then AICC president Sonia Gandhi,” Rajanala Srihari said, appealing to the party high command not to allow repeat of such a situation. He said Revanth Reddy is the right man to lead the election camp as he has capability of giving sleepless nights to the ruling TRS.

Handloom Cell district president Chippa Venkateshwarlu, State Minority Cell general secretary Rahath Parveen, Youth Congress vice president Md Zaheeruddin, State OBC Cell general secretary K Sadanandam, leaders V Prasad, G ramchander, K Bhaskar and Oruganti Hanumantha Rao were among others present.
