Muharram: Deputy CM reviews arrangements
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister (Revenue) Mohammed Mahmood Ali directed the officials concerned to make elaborate arrangements for smooth observation of ensuing Muharram on September 21. The Deputy Chief Minister, along with Advisor to the State Government A K Khan, held a review meeting with the officials of Police, Power, Transport, GHMC, HMWS&SB, Fire Services, Medical and Health, Forest and other departments.
He said the government would make all necessary arrangements including maintenance of law and order during the period of Muharram. He said the GHMC would form special teams for sanitation. Mahmood Ali also directed the officials to make additional lighting arrangements and mobile toilets.
He also instructed the Electricity Department officials to take necessary steps for uninterrupted power supply. He asked the HMWS&SB officials to ensure water supply and R &B officials for necessary repairs of roads and TSRTC for transport facilities. He directed the Forest Department to provide an elephant for Bibi-Ka-Alam procession.
The Deputy Chief Minister also allotted Rs 1 crore for making arrangements for Muharram and repair of Ashoor Khanas. Telangana Wakf Board Chairman Mohd Saleem, Hyderabad District Collector Raghunandan Rao, Ranga Reddy District Collector Lokesh Kumar, Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police D S Chauhan, Minority Welfare Department Director Shahnawaz Qasim, MLCs, MLAs, representatives from Shia community and others were present at the meeting.
