He further said, “The GHMC constructed a modern market from an allocated budget of Rs 20 lakh. There are four blocks and apart from facilitating 6o shops, office space can be accommodated in two floors. Out of the four blocks, one is allotted for non-veg section and remaining blocks are for general store and vegetable sections. We asked the local corporator to allot the shelters but there is no response from him.”

Local corporator Shanti Saizen Shekhar told The Hans India, “The modern market was constructed 13 years back by the GHMC and the prize set for a shelter is Rs 3 lakh. She said the vendor has to pay the money and open the shops but because of the financial crises the vendors are not preferring the shelters.”

Ramu a fish vendor said, “We are ready to pay Rs 3 lakh for a shelter but the GHMC officials are saying we need to vacate the shelter in three years which is not acceptable by us. We start getting the profits after 3 years and the officials are saying to vacate then.” Another vendor Laxmi said, “If the official start the non-veg section the demand may increase for the market and we may get the profits.”
