Hyderabad: The political parties in Telangana are going into election mode. Congress matriarch Sonia Gandhi is expected to address a public meeting either in Karimnagar or in Nizamabad on September 14, while BJP president Amit Shah will arrive in Hyderabad either on September 12 or 15 for kickstarting election campaign at Mahbubnagar. TRS MP D Srinivas, who fell out with the TRS leadership, is expected to return to the Congress in the presence of Sonia Gandhi during her visit. Along with him, TRS MLC R Bhupathi Reddy is also likely to migrate to the Congress.

In fact, even before Srinivas shot off an open letter on Tuesday accusing the TRS of witch-hunt, necessary spade work had been done for his home-coming. A day ahead of leaving for Delhi to finalise the party’s strategy for the elections, party core committee members held a meeting at the residence of former minister Mukesh Goud where they reportedly discussed among others, Srinivas’ return to the Congress.     The other issues that were discussed included Assembly dissolution, Congress strategy, alliance with the TDP. The core committee members who met included former deputy chief minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and Revanth Reddy.

Amit Shah, during his visit, to Hyderabad will confer with the Telangana leaders of the saffron party and finalise strategy in facing the TRS in the state. The BJP strongman had indicated to the party cadres that he would personally supervise elections in Telangana as they happen to be crucial for the party to make its presence felt in the South.
