NIMS doctors refuse tainted RV Kumar as Dean

Hyderabad: Resident Doctors Association (RDA) and Faculty Doctors Association (FDA) at NIMS, Punjagutta have strongly opposed appointment of Dr R V Kumar as the new Dean of the institute. They want orders to be revoked or else doctors would launch strike from Monday.

Resident doctors at NIMS held a protest and a meeting on Saturday morning on this issue. According to resident doctors, Dr R V Kumar was caught red-handed by ACB earlier and related case is still pending in Court. Allegations of harassing female PG students were also levelled against him in this past.

RDA said that Dr Kumar was not a suitable candidate to become Dean of prestigious NIMS, which the sanctity of the post at stake.

Resident doctors and faculty doctors at NIMS submitted a representation in Governor Office and also to NIMS director demanding R V Kumar's immediate removal from the post. Doctors are slated to meet Principal Secretary (Health) and also Health Minister seeking their intervention.

“We will wait for government action over the next days. Otherwise doctors would not hesitate to go on indefinite strike seeking Dr Kumar's removal," one of the resident doctors said. It may be mentioned here that health department issued a G O on September 6 appointing R V Kumar as the new Dean.
