BJP all set to gauge strength in TS
Hyderabad: The first election meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) scheduled to be held at Palamuru in Mahbubnagar district on September 15 has turned into a test for the party State leadership.
According to party sources, the party president Amit Shah is going to kick-start the election campaign in Telangana with the scheduled meeting for the ensuing Assembly elections. But, it is primarily meant to gauge at the party's strength in South Telangana.
Speaking to The Hans India, a senior leader of the party said the task set was to mobilise nearly one lakh booth committee members from 22 Assembly segments in old Ranga Reddy and Mahbubnagar districts.
Because, the State party has claimed to have formed nearly 30,000 booth committees in the State, out of which it has full-fledged structure. Each polling both on an average will have 10 to 15 party workers. And, four to five polling booths constitute a Sakti Kendra. This way, the party has put in place an effective structure in nearly 26,000 polling booths in the State.
The efficiency and hard work of this structure backed with cadre have proved as a game changer in polls in the Assembly and parliament elections the much-needed dividends to the party across different States.
Following similar patron, the Central leadership had earlier directed its State leaders to focus more on constituting the polling booth committees and Sakti Kendras and go to villages and meet the members of the polling booths. It was against this backdrop that the party president wanted to gaze the number of booth committees will be attended to his first meeting to launch its poll campaign.
Accordingly, each of the 22 Assembly segments has been assigned to a coordinator to mobilise the booth committee members to the Sha's meeting. "The task is to gather 5 to 6 thousand booth members from each Mandal for the September 15th meeting," said another Assembly coordinator.
The situation will be reviewed at a meeting scheduled in Mahbubnagar on Monday by party State president Dr K Laxman and former BJP MLA G Kishan Reddy. Each Assembly coordinator will have to reach his assigned assembly segment and stay there till September 15.
