TJS to clear air on poll truck soon
Hyderabad: Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) leadership will wait for one week to ten days at the most for clarity on any possible alliance between opposition parties to take on KCR-led TRS. With very less time left for elections, the party feels this issue has to be expedited and sorted out at the earliest so that all parties in the fray can focus on election strategies and battle on the ground. TJS chief Prof Kodandaram said mood across the State was that all forces should join to end the autocratic rule of TRS government.
" Even Manda Krishna Madiga emphasised on all opposition parties joining hands to end this autocratic rule. TJS is ready and prepared to make this happen. However, the effort should be on programmed unity without losing TJS identity," he said. Meanwhile, efforts for a grand alliance among opposition parties have picked up after visit of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) national president N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday. He entrusted job of reaching out to other parties to senior leader L Ramana and others. Ramana-led TDP team is slated to meet Prof Kodandaram on Monday to take these alliances talk further.
It may be recalled that TRS Ministers and MLAs, on many occasions in the past, drubbed TDP as "Andhra Party" working against interests of Telangana be it on delayed bifurcation of High Court issue or bottlenecks created for various irrigation projects to name a few. When asked if teaming up with TDP would hamper TJS chances in forthcoming elections, the party leadership says they are yet to discuss on pros and cons of tying up with TDP thus far. " No discussions at any stage took place between TJS and TDP even in the past on this issue," said a TJS leader.
However, party leaders feel the main political dimensions in upcoming elections would be to end autocratic rule of one family and also to work for all round development of Telangana as dreamt of during agitation period. "Also, the possible alliance would have few other parties that supported and fought for aspirations of Telangana people right from agitation days.
Having an alliance with only one party was different from an alliance that has many opposition parties on board," feels the TJS camp. Before the poll fever began, TJS has been in touch with CPI and CPI (ML-New Democracy) as they raised a common voice against government on various issues and even bringing them to the notice of Governor jointly. It remains to be seen the newest entrant to State politics teams up with other main political parties retaining its own identity.
