Special drive to enrol new voters begins
Khammam: The District Electoral Officer and District Collector RV Karnan here on Monday urged the representatives of various political parties to extend their cooperation for enrolling the names of the people on the voters list in the special drive that started on Monday.
The Collector chaired a meeting with the political leaders at Pragna Conference hall in Khammam and handed over the CD’s of voters list to them. Speaking on the occasion, he informed that a special drive of enrolling of voters and corrections of names would be carried out in the five constituencies in the Khammam from Monday.
Objection for corrections would be received from September 10 to 25 and from September 15 to 16 grama sabhas would be organised in all villages for enrolling the names of new voters on the voters’ list along with necessary corrections.
The Collector urged the the political parties representatives to create awareness among the people about the value of vote and enroll their names on the voters list through booth level agents and officers who would be available at the respective booths that are assigned to them.
After receiving the objections, necessary corrections would be made by October 4 and final list of voters would be displayed on October 8 in the respective village panchayats, he added. The new voters can apply online on nvsp.on or ceotelangana.nic.in websites, he added.
Special arrangements would be made for disabled persons for exercising their franchise at the polling booths. Special VV pats, MP3 and EVM’s with new technology would reach the district by September 18, said the Collector.
The CPI leader Bagam Hemanth Rao, Singu Narasimha Rao, BJP leader G Vidhya Sagar, Congress leader A Gopal Rao, CPM leader Lenin, TJS leader B Thirumala Rao, BSP leader Abdul Kareem and Deputy Tahasildar R Rambabu and others were present on the occasion.
