Secunderabad: With nala works being carried out in front of the bus stop for the past four months at Rezimental Bazaar Road, Secunderabad, the commuters are forced to stand on the main road to board a bus putting their lives at risk. It may be mentioned here, that on Monday at Gachibowli three persons who got down from a RTC bus were killed in an accident as they were negotiating with an auto on the busy road.

The commuters at Rezimental bus stop are seen standing for hours together on the main road where buses take a wide U-turn leading to haphazard traffic flow. The road stretch turnsinto a nightmare for pedestrians, commuters and bus travellers. As soon as the bus comes to a halt, the commuters run behind the bus pushing each other to board the bus on the busy road. With a deep pit opposite to the bus stop and ongoing nala works the width of the road has narrowed down and turned too risky for the bus boarders. The pit dug out as part of nala works is left open without any strong barricades.

“The authorities are least bothered about the public safety. It has become risky to board a bus here, especially with kids. With the delay in nala works and no bus stop, we are forced to stand on the main road where as many as buses come to halt causing congestion. Having, Secunderabad Railway Station near the bus stop public at large throng bus stand every day. The concerned authorities should expedite the nala works and ensure safety measures are provided to avoid any untoward accident,” said P Shyam, a commuter. “It is unsafe to stand on main road. There is a chance of being hit by the bus or any other vehicle,” said 65-year-old, Ragavaya.
