All set to celebrate eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi
Khammam: The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival celebrations slated on Thursday in a peaceful atmosphere here in Khammam.
The Ganesh Utsav Committees are suggested to take permission by submitting the applications at the ACP office for the setting up of Ganesh pandals besides taking necessary steps for prevention of fire accidents by consulting with the officials of electricity department.
They are also advised to install eco-friendly Ganesh idols which are made of clay for protecting environment. The officials are also making elaborate arrangments at immersion points in Bokkalagadda and Prakashnagar areas for smooth conduct of immersion procession of Ganesh idols amid tight security.
The police officials said that they are keeping strict vigil at about 4,000 Ganesh pandals that would be established at various locations in the city. To prevent any untoward incident, the concerned Station House officers are directed to inspect every Ganesh pandal in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, some voluntary organizations and school managements conducted workshops to create the awareness among the students about the use of eco-friendly Ganesh idols to protect the environment. At the workshops students were asked to make the Ganesha idols of clay. The general public and students took part in the awareness programmes held across the district.
