BJP sees enemy No 1 in TRS

Update: 2018-09-15 05:30 IST

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president Dr K Laxman said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was the enemy number one of his party in the ensuing State Assembly elections and the party stand would be made clear by its president Amit Shah in his public meeting scheduled to be held in Mahbubnagar on Friday.

Addressing the media here on Friday, he said the BJP public meeting - ‘Ennikala Sankharavam’ – in Mahbubnagar would create tremors in the political landscape of the State and accused that the Congress, the TDP and the TRS had been feeding the snake-like All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) over the years.

This had made it scale up from Galli to Delhi. Referring how the Congress, the TDP and the TRS had never dared to officially celebrate the Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 to appease the Majlis, the BJP State chief said celebrating the Telangana Liberation Day would be possible only when BJP came to power in the State.

Emboldened with the appeasement politics of the earlier parties in power, the Majlis party was hatching an election strategy to capture power through backdoors repeating a Karnataka style politics in Telangana, he added.

He said the grand alliance against the BJP was unholy and the TDP and the CPI were trying to revive the Congress which was on ventilation. However, they would not succeed, Laxman predicted. Claiming that people of the State were mentally prepared to defeat the Congress and the TRS, he said the BJP would be contesting in all the 119 Assembly segments in the State and the party manifesto and elections management committee would be formed soon. Also, the party candidates would be announced after the Election Commission of India (ECI) issued notification of the poll schedule.

Several leaders from the Congress, the TRS and the TDP were keeping in touch with the party, Laxman said, adding that they would join the party at an appropriate time. As part of the electioneering, apart from the Central ministers and party national leaders, Amit Shah will address another public meeting in Karimnagar.

“The TRS has neglected the implementation of Ayushman Bharat, which provides medical care, Prime Minister Awas Yojana denying housing to lakhs of people in the State, besides the tardy implementation of Prime Minister Fasal Bhima Yojana (PMFBY). This left the farmers at the receiving end. If the governments in both the Centre and the State are from the same party, then, we can make use of the Centrally sponsored and supported schemes well for the development of various sections of people,” he said.
