TJS sets terms for Grand Alliance
Hyderabad: The Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) has set conditions for joining Maha Kutami (Grand Alliance) comprising Congress, TDP and CPI. It has proposed that the alliance should be formed on a mutually-agreed agenda or common minimum programme. Although news spread in some Television channels on Ganesh festival day that the Telangana Jana Samithi was on board, the TJS leadership has clarified that it was waiting for parties’ response on its conditions.
The TJS leadership that met under the chairmanship of Prof Kodandaram wanted the mutually-agreed agenda should reflect aspirations of the Telangana movement. It should be known as Telangana Martyrs’ Agenda. It also wanted TMAIC (Telangana Martyrs’ Agenda Implementation Committee) constituted which should comprise the Chief Minister, members of coalition partners as well as noted social workers as its members with Prof Kodandaram as Chairman.
This committee will evaluate government functioning and advice government on policy matters and ‘Amarula Akankshala Sadhana’ (realisation of martrys’ dreams). Sources said the Congress, TDP and CPI gave their formal approval for this. All parties along with like-minded Praja Sanghalu and political organisations will sit and finalize the agenda.
Meanwhile, in the TJS internal meeting, it was stressed that the aspirations of statehood agitation should take priority over seat-sharing and other calculations. Influential capitalists calling the shots in the government and grabbing all projects as was seen in the TRS government should be avoided by the alliance if it comes to power, it was felt.
