Hyderabad: No boarding pass at RGI, instead scan your face to board flight

Update: 2018-09-16 16:56 IST

For the first time ever in the country, boarding pass at Hyderabad airport will be soon replaced by a facial recognition facility for domestic fliers in India.

According to sources, the passengers have to get a one-time registration process at the entry gate where the face of the passengers gets captured in a camera.

This face recognition will act as a unique signature for the passengers till he reaches the destination. And the passengers have no need to show a boarding pass at all the security checks. The security system showcases the details of the passenger once he gets scanned at the checking point.

According to GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), the automated system will verify the credentials of the passenger with the Airline Departure Control System and along with the passenger's face on the ticket as the boarding pass is integrated into the system.

The facial recognition system has been initiated to reduce the passenger's timing during the departures. And the new system has already been tested on the airport staff and will go on live trails on the passengers.

It will into existence by the end of this year once all the clearances are done by the regulatory authorities.
