Congress draws up poll panels for Telangana

Hyderabad: After several rounds of discussions, the All-India Congress Committee on Wednesday appointed election committees for the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee to allow the state unit to gear up to face early elections planned by KCR. Issuing the orders on behalf of the AICC, national general secretary Ashok Gehlot said that Congress president Rahul Gandhi has appointed several leaders as office-bearers of various committees. Apart from appointing two leaders as working presidents for the TPCC, Rahul Gandhi has appointed nine committees for Telangana and the orders would come into effect immediately, he said.

Rahul has appointed A Revanth Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar as working presidents. Film actress Vijaya Shanthi has been appointed star campaigner and advisor to Election Campaign Committee.  The PCC would have Core, Co-ordination, Campaign, Pradesh Election, Manifesto, Strategy and Planning, LDMRC, Election Commission Co-ordination and Disciplinary Action Committees.  

The Core Committee consists AICC incharge general secretary RC Khuntia, AICC secretaries NS Bose Raju, Srinivasan Krishnan, Saleem Ahmed, PCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, former leader of opposition in Assembly K Jana Reddy, former PCC president V Hanumantha Rao, leader of opposition in Council Shabbir Ali, former PCC president Ponnala Laxmaiah, former deputy chief minister Damodar C Rajanarasimha, AICC secretaries Madhu Yashki Goud, G Chinna Reddy, A Sampath Kumar and Ch Vamsi Chand Reddy.

The Campaign committee would be headed by Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, DK Aruna (co chairperson), Sravan Dasoju (convener), T Jagga Reddy, Anil Yadav, Venkatesh, N Sarada, SK Abdullah Sohail, Bilia Nayak, Krishna Reddy, Kiran Reddy, Manebata Roy, Bijay Kumar, Kartik Reddy, Prem Lal, Kumar Rao and H Venugopal would be the members. The Pradesh Election Committee would be headed by PCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and it would have 41 leaders as members. 

The Manifesto Committee would be chaired by former deputy chief minister Damodara Raja Narasimha and would consist of 35 leaders as members. Komatireddy Venkat Reddy would be the co-chairperson. The Strategy Committee would be headed by V Hanumantha Rao and Madhu Yaski, Sridhar Babu and Sarvey Satyanarayana would be co-chairpersons. Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, S Jaipal Reddy, T Jeevan Reddy, G Chinna Reddy, MA Khan, Rapolu Anand Bhaskar and Renuka Chowdary have been named as conveners.
