Muslims perform puja at Laldarwaza Ganesh

Laldarwaza: Reflecting the ‘Ganga-Jamuna tehzeeb’ of Hyderabad, the Muslims from Darushifa, Dabeerpura and Komativadi made a visit to Laldarwaza’s biggest idol Sri Omkar Ganesh and performed rituals along with local leaders. 

According to local leaders, this sets the example of Hindu-Muslim amity in this part of the City where Hindus visit the Bibi-ka-Alawa and other Ashoorkhanas in the month of Muharram and complementing the traditional unity, Muslims visit the Ganesh pandal and perform rituals. The residents of Old City, Md Ameer, Dawood Hyder, Noor Hyder, Zakir Ali, Ameer Agha, Ali Jaha, Raza Ali on Tuesday made a visit to the pandal of the Omkar Ganesh in Laldarwaza. 

The Utsav Committee Advisor and local Congress leader K Venkatesh welcomed the group. Organisers K Sanjeev and Pankaj handed over the puja material like garland, coconut, fruits, turmeric and kumkum to the visitors. Later; they also took part in the special prayers and accepted the prasadam. The organisers later felicitated the visiting Muslims by covering them with shawls. Even the visitors to the Ganesh mandap lauded the gesture by the fellow citizens. 

Venkatesh described this as the occasion which reflects the rich cultural tradition of Old City where both the communities living there blending their festivities, there by reflecting the communal harmony. In this programme the Samithi Chairman, K Sanjeev, president, Pankaj and representatives Parmesh Chauhan, R C Srikanth, Shankar Goud, Sharath, Raju and others took active part.
