Hyderabad: Osmania University professor Kashim said that backward and poor class people were being deprived of quality education due to the policies of State and Central governments. He was speaking at the meeting conducted on the subject ‘Education in four years of KCR rule’ at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram here on Wednesday. The meeting was organised by Progressive Democratic Students Union (PDSU).

Speaking on the occasion, he alleged that the State and Central governments handed education sector over to private institutions and as a result the underprivileged were left with no option but remain deprived of quality education. Deliberate attempts were being made by governments to make the premier educational institutions dysfunctional by not allocating necessary funds and infrastructure, he added. Pointing out at the government apathy towards education, he said the pending fee reimbursement amount and scholarships have not been released by the State government so far this year.

He also criticised caretaker CM K Chandraskhar Rao for not recruiting lecturers, despite the promises he made before the state formation.  He felt that there was a need to fight against government apathy and called upon the youth take up the issue to give justice to the backward classes. IFTU national secretary, B Pradeep, B Ramu, Nageshwar Rao, Sandhya Bhaskar, Kalpana, Mahesh, Swathi, Ramkrishna and others participated in the meeting.
