Hyderabad: The members of Sikh community approached the Chatrinaka police station demanding ban of the movie ‘Manmarziyan’ directed by Anurag Kashyap. Led by Telangana Trade Union Cell, secretary, Sardar Manjeet Singh and the Chairman Sardar Eshwar Singh, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Welfare Association and Sat Sangath of Huppuguda Sikh Chawni submitted the complaint copy to SHO Chatrinaka police station.

While referring to the ban on ‘smoking of tobacco’ products within the Sikh community, they expressed displeasure over lead actress of the movie Tapsee Pannu, who plays the role of a Sikh girl smokes cigarette and actor Abhishek Bachchan opens his turban casually like a cap. “We Sikh community is hurt by the movie Manmarziyan. How can the censor board give approval to release the movie, as some scenes in the movie are shown against the tenets of Sikhism? The female lead and male lead both can be seen behaving insensitively in their roles as Sikhs.

These acts give wrong message about the Sikhism and also insult the Sikh women and Sikh religion,” said Manjeet Singh. The Sikh leaders requested the police to take strict action on movie actors and director and also requested for a ban on movie. “We Sikh community have hoped that the Government of Telangana will take action at the earliest,” they asked.
