Several senior leaders call on committee chairman and request him not to take action on the MLC

Hyderabad: Congress Disciplinary Committee has deferred the decision on taking action on MLC Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy for his derogatory comments on the party and in-charge RC Khuntia.

The committee met under the chairmanship of M Kodanda Reddy on Wednesday and decided to wait till Thursday on the reply to the show cause notice given to Rajagopal Reddy.

The committee has been told that a close relative of Rajagopal Reddy has passed away recently and he has been attending the ceremonies due to which he was unable to send reply to the second show cause notice.

The time for giving reply to the show cause notice has ended on Tuesday evening and the Disciplinary Committee met on Wednesday to review the situation.

According to party sources, several senior leaders have called the committee chairman and requested him not to take any decision on the action.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Rajagopal Reddy’s brother, reportedly told the committee that he would get the reply letter personally.

Meanwhile, the committee members have expressed disappointment over the interference of senior leaders. They said that it would be better for them to stay away from such practices.

They felt that it was not correct on the part of Rajagopal Reddy to go to the media after being served by notice.

He should have spoken to the Disciplinary Committee before going to the press. Several other leaders who faced disciplinary action followed this.
